URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 247 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 650 PM CDT Sat May 27 2023 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Texas South Plains * Effective this Saturday evening from 650 PM until 1100 PM CDT. * Primary threats include... Isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible Isolated damaging wind gusts to 65 mph possible A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...A supercell embedded within a cluster across southeast New Mexico will spread into the Texas South Plains. An additional supercell over east-central New Mexico may eventually track east-southeast into Texas. Large hail will be the primary hazard, but a brief tornado is also possible. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40 statute miles east and west of a line from 60 miles northwest of Plainview TX to 55 miles south southwest of Lubbock TX.
