A Kansas woman has died after a fiery head on crash in Greenwood County.
It happened on U.S. 54, about 10 miles west of Eureka, around 5 a.m. Sunday. Troopers said 21-year-old Zachary Nowell, of Madison, was driving east, when he went left of center and hit an oncoming car. The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire.
Nowell was taken to a Wichita hospital where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the second vehicle, 65-year-old Coleen Buettner, of Eureka, died at the scene.
Troopers say neither driver was wearing a seatbelt.
