Lyon County Sheriff deputies and the Emporia Fire Department responded to a barn fire on the 1600 block of Road M7 at about 5:18 p.m. Sunday.
With the help of a neighbor, the two horses were removed out of the barn, according to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office. The barn was owned by Mauricio Lara-Monreal and rented by Edith Negrete. The renters were burning trash earlier Sunday night and the trash caught the barn on fire.
The fire is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
