Fire broke out before dawn Friday at a chrome-plating business on South West Street in Wichita.
No one was injured in the fire at Chrome Plus International. Heavy smoke filled the area when firefighters arrived around 4:30 a.m. A HazMat truck was on the scene as a precaution, since dangerous chemicals are used at the business.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
First Student has school buses parked near the scene of the fire. While they were never in danger, crews at the fire scene caused drivers to take alternate streets to get to their buses and begin their morning routes.
