Crews are on scene of a house fire in northeast Wichita, the second home that’s burned in the city this morning.
The fire broke out just before 8 a.m. at a home in the 8500 block of East Bridlewood. That’s in a neighborhood near 21st and Rock behind Bradley Fair.
Initial crews said it was a working fire and called for additional assistance because of the size of the home. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control before 8:30.
Investigators say the cause was a discarded cigarette that the wind blew against the home. It caught the siding on fire, then the garage and spread to the attic. A damage estimate is not yet available.
One person was home, but was not hurt.
