A short-lived fire caused minor damage to a home Wednesday night in Ottawa.

Ottawa firefighters responded about 9:20 p.m. to 1126 S. Hickory St., where they found a small fire on the second floor had been extinguished upon their arrival. The blaze caused an estimated $1,000 in damage, according to a fire report.

“There were no injuries, and a minor child was involved with the cause,” Jeff Carner, Ottawa Fire Chief, said.

Firefighters removed smoke from the residence and then cleared the scene, the report said.
