Firefighters working blaze at apartments on North Rock Road

Wichita firefighters are battling an apartment fire in the 2800 block of North Rock Road, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said.

Someone in the office at Northpark Residences called 911 shortly after 4:30 p.m. to report a fire in Apartment 2204, the supervisor said. When crews arrived five minutes later, they saw heavy smoke and flames, prompting a request for additional firefighters to respond, the dispatch supervisor said.

Crews continued to fight the fire into the 5 o’clock hour. Its cause and an estimate of damage to the building remains under investigation.

No one injuries had been reported by 5 p.m.
