Grantville couple offers $1,000 reward for info about horse's shooting

A rural Grantville couple are distraught after someone fatally shot their horse this past Tuesday.

Gary Carbonneau said he and his wife, Ara, weren’t home when someone trespassed on their property on 31st Street and killed their daughter’s quarterhorse, a 12-year-old chesnut philly named Amie. The couple’s daughter, Ara Joleen, now lives in Washington, D.C.

Topeka veterinarian Ed Kester’s autopsy indicated the horse was shot at point-blank range, Carbonneau said. He said the bullet passed through her liver and stomach before lodging in her intestine.
