The Harper Fire Department has received State approval for a Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) Grant this year, according to Kansas Forest Service Management Coordinator Ross Hauck.

Harper will receive $3000 towards a remote control bumper nozzle for an additional rural brush truck being built on a 5 ton all-wheel drive chassis which was given to the fire department at no charge from the Forest Service.

Fire departments can apply each year for the VFA monies. Harper has received thousands of dollars over the years through the program.
