A Jefferson County resident is presumed dead after an early morning house fire Tuesday in rural Ozawkie.
The Kansas State Fire Marshall and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the scene at 8335 Hamilton Road following the fire, which was first reported to emergency dispatchers at 6:17 a.m., according to a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The body of the home’s owner, whose name was not released, has ben sent to a morgue in Kansas City for identification and an autopsy.
