Job Opening – Fire Chief – Andover Fire & Rescue

Andover Fire & Rescue, an “All Perils” Fire Department is seeking an accomplished professional to serve as the City of Andover, Kansas’ next Fire Chief. The present Fire Chief is retiring after serving over 10 years in that position. The preferred candidate will have at least 10 years fire service experience with at least 3 years at the Captain or higher level in a career or combination fire department. High School Diploma required, supplemented by College course work or degree or the equivalent training and experience necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position. Requires certification of at least Fire Officer I, NIMS certification, Emergency Medical Technician (minimum) and a valid non-commercial Kansas driver’s license (must obtain within 3 months of hire date). Thorough knowledge of modern fire suppression techniques, fire prevention, hazardous materials response, and emergency medical response procedures is required. Thorough knowledge of federal, State and local laws and ordinances governing the fire service are required. Salary range is $55,000.00 to $65,000.00 depending on qualifications
