Firefighter/Paramedic
3 positions (one immediate, two in February 2014)
The Wellington Fire & EMS Department is accepting applications for Firefighter/Paramedic. Applicants must be currently certified as a Paramedic or will be by January 2014. Applicants must be a certified Firefighter I or the ability to obtain that certification within 9 months. A current or scheduled written test through the www.nationaltestingnetwork.com or Hutchinson Community College is required before physical ability test. Applicants must attend a physical ability test or a current CPAT will be accepted. Interviews and physical ability test will be scheduled shortly after the application deadline. Starting annual salary is $40,000 with a salary step increase after 6 months. A total of 268 hours of scheduled overtime annually is possible in addition to the annual salary.
Wellington Fire & EMS employs 15 full time personnel, three administrative staff and 3 reserves. The department responds on an average to 1200 EMS calls and 1100 fire calls annually. Staff work 24 hour shifts and must reside within 15 minutes of the fire station within 6 months.
