On September 17, members from the Minneapolis EMS, Minneapolis Police Department, Minneapolis Fire District 2, Tescott Fire, Ottawa County Emergency Management, Ottawa County Sheriff’s office and the Ottawa County C.E.R.T. team attended a training class on landing zones. The class was taught by Todd Turner of Life Star of Kansas and was designed to educate emergency workers in preparing a suitable landing zone for a medical helicopter at or near the scene of an emergency.
Attendants were able to get up close to one of the helicopters to get an idea of how the landing zones work and how patients are loaded. The training plays a vital role in providing better service to the citizens of Minneapolis, Ottawa County, and its communities.
