After it became evident Wednesday that 20-year-old Dyllon Butrick wouldn’t survive injuries suffered five months ago in a pickup truck-semitrailer crash in Jefferson County, the choice was made that he would live on through others as an organ donor.
On Thursday, after Butrick was declared brain-dead, he was taken to an operating room at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Neb., where his organs were harvested.
