Sedgwick County’s latest fire station goes into service today. It could provide protection for McConnell Air Force Base, as well as surrounding homes.
Fire Station 36 is located on South Oliver – not far from 47th Street, and also not far from a McConnell runway.
That’s not all that could become safer, as a result of this station. Station 36 could lower home insurance premiums in Derby and Oaklawn, the towns it will serve. In addition, Spirit AeroSystems and Boeing are only a short drive down the road.
Ground was broken for fire station 36 about a year ago. It’s part of a series of new Sedgwick County stations which have opened in the last nine years. There’s one station to go in the project. A new building in Haysville should be ready for use next spring.
