A Scott City man who crashed his small-engine plane just north of Topeka in April 2011 likely became disoriented and lost control of the aircraft, investigators said in a report released recently.
Dylan Spencer, 35, a Scott County commissioner, his wife, Amy, 34, and daughters Chase, 7, and Ansley, 5, were killed when the family’s dual-engine 1973 Beech Model 58C airplane crashed in a Jefferson County field about 12:15 p.m. April 22, 2011, after a failed attempt to land at Philip Billard Municipal Airport in Topeka.
