A semi trailer is a total loss after an early morning fire on I-135 in northern Kansas.
A semi traveling from Freemont, Nebraska to Wichita was southbound on I-135 in Saline County around 5 a.m. when the driver noticed smoke coming from the rear of the trailer.
The 76-year-old driver from Glenville, Minnesota stopped the truck and extinguished a small fire near the rear tires, but it reignited.
The ensuing fire destroyed the trailer and its contents: about 41,000 pounds of processed pork bellies. The truck had only minor damage and had to be towed.
No one was hurt.
