Shawnee Fire Department’s C-Shift recently showed solidarity and support for Shawnee firefighter Luke Lohmeyer and his 3-year-old nephew, Bo Macan. Bo has a rare genetic condition called IPEX that causes myriad health complications for one tiny boy, including Type 1 Diabetes, growth hormone deficiency, thyroid problems and chronic lung disease. Bo loves seeing the firefighters, the fire stations, and best of all, the fire trucks. C-Shift firefighters recently gave money to purchase Bo a fire helmet like the ones they wear, and Shawnee firefighter Seth Buckley, from B-Shift, made a customized leather shield to go along with it.
