On October 10, 2013 Southern Pioneer-H.U.G.S. Team members had the pleasure of presenting the Sublette Fire Department with a check that will help purchase goggles and masks for the firefighters.
Personal Protective Equipment such as goggles and masks are the firefighters’ first level of protection.
The past several years have kept the volunteer firefighters busy with fires and accidents. New gear wasn’t just a want it was a necessity.
Sublette Fire Department’s Assistant Fire Chief, Chris Ricketts, said “We really appreciate this donation to buy hear. Volunteer fire departments are really in need for this kind of stuff and we greatly appreciate it.”
Giving back to the communities that Southern Pioneer Electric’s employees and consumers live in is something that is not taken lightly.
A little over a year ago, the H.U.G.S. team (Helping Us Give to Society) was formed to help Southern Pioneer do just that–give back.
The H.U.G.S team is funded by Southern Pioneer Electric’s recycled materials. Any pieces of steel, aluminum or copper that have been taken out of service due to a repair or rebuild are recycled.
Southern Pioneer Electric Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pioneer Electric Cooperative, is headquartered out of Ulysses, Kansas. Southern Pioneer Electric Company has local offices in Liberal and Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
