The 1300 block of North Madison was blocked for a few minutes after a spark under a ceiling fan prompted a resident to call 911.
The Hutchinson Fire Department arrived at the home shortly before 4 p.m. Battalion Chief Doug Hanen said the man saw a spark under a ceiling fan. He turned off the circuit breaker to the home before calling the fire department. He also poured water on the portion that sparked.

There was no fire when firefighters arrived and the street was quickly reopened. Hanen said Westar Energy would check the wiring to make sure there was no more fire danger. No one was injured.
