HARVEYVILLE — When the federal government told residents of Harveyville that their northeast Kansas town didn’t qualify for federal aid after it was seriously damaged by a tornado, they decided to take matters into their own hands.
The Feb. 28 tornado destroyed half the homes and the Methodist Church in Harveyville, and killed one of the 240 residents in the Wabaunsee County town.
