GRANTVILLE — No injuries were reported Wednesday morning after a Union Pacific train struck a flatbed trailer carrying approximately two dozen large rolls of sod in a rural area just east of this Jefferson County town.
Kansas Highway Patrol officials at the scene said the trailer apparently had been left on the railroad tracks after it became detached from the semi that had been pulling it.
There was no immediate word on how the flatbed trailer became disconnected from the semi or why it ended up on the railroad track.
