It is the largest order of new fire trucks for Wichita’s Fire Department in 11 years.

The order is made up of nine trucks costing more than $6.5 million.
Although there are 22 stations, only the first nine will get them.
Station 2 got their truck not to long ago.
They have been using it to get a good feel for the engine.
Battalion Chief Tom Carney says the older trucks were good, but the new trucks allow for more space and easier access to their equipment.
He says some firefighters actually played a major role in the design of the trucks simply because they knew what their needs were.
“We had a lot of involvement in getting this so there is a lot of pride in getting this,” said Carney.
All nine are expected to be up and running sometime by the end of next year.
