A Wichita elementary school was briefly evacuated Wednesday morning while firefighters investigated the report of possible smoke in the building.
Around 9:15 a.m. Wichita fire crews were sent to the report of smoke in the former Bryant Core Knowledge Magnet Elementary School at 4702 West 9th Street North.
While firefighters searched for the source of the smell, students were evacuated for about 15 to 20 minutes until the all clear was given.
Investigators are still trying to determine the source of the smell, but found no fire. School has since resumed.
Bryant had previously been closed, but was reopened this year to house students from College Hill Elementary after that school suffered extensive fire damage in August. That fire caused an estimated $700,000 in damage and repairs are still being made.
