Special Weather Statement issued October 24 at 4:45AM CDT by NWS Topeka
…A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of Shawnee and
southeastern Wabaunsee Counties through 515 AM CDT…
At 445 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Keene, moving northeast at 50 mph.
HAZARD…Winds in excess of 40 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include…
Topeka, Eskridge, Tecumseh, Dover, Silver Lake, Auburn, Maple Hill,
Willard, Keene and Pauline.
This includes the following highways…
Interstate 70 between mile markers 339 and 355.
Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 167 and 187.
MAX HAIL SIZE…0.75 IN
MAX WIND GUST…40 MPH

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 500 AM CDT for
northeastern Kansas.
