Arson blamed for house fire

Parsons Sun – October 17, 2013
Submitted by Newz Group Clipping Service – November 1, 2013

Fire destroyed a Parsons home early Saturday morning and investigators consider the fire of suspicious origin.

Parsons firefighters were called at 4:55 a.m. Saturday to 2224 Stevens, a home rented by Christiana Taylor and owned by Clarence White.

The Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office was called in to help investigate the fire, which began on the front porch or the front of the house and spread.

Taylor was not home at the time of the fire and told investigators he had not been living there full time, Parsons Fire Chief Larry Steeby said.

He estimated damage to the house and its contents at $25,000.

Steeby said the house was insured, but Taylor did not have insurance on her contents.

Steeby said the fire remains under investigation.
