Blown HVAC motor causes smoke at Campus High

KAKE – November 21, 2013

Sedgwick County fire crews say a blown HVAC motor was the cause of smoke reported Thursday afternoon at a high school in Haysville.

It happened around 3 p.m. at Campus High School at 2100 West 55th Street South.

A school spokesperson said someone noticed a light haze coming from the auditorium and pulled the fire alarm. When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from one of the buildings. Everyone was then moved out of the auditorium and into the gym.

Firefighters quickly determined that an HVAC motor blew, which caused the smoke.

Classed were dismissed as normal and no injuries were reported, the spokesperson said.
