The child pulled a pond in a southeast Wichita backyard earlier this week has died.
Early Monday morning, 17-month-old Ethan Joshua Kimmi climbed out of his grandparents’ house through a dog door in the 5100 block of South Madison. He was soon found in a koi pond in the backyard.
Rescue crews were able to resuscitate him and took him to an area hospital, but he has since died.
His family issued this statement:
“It is with great sadness that our beloved Ethan Joshua Kimmi has gone to heaven. In his short life he touched so many people. He never met a single stranger. He is in heaven giving high five’s to everyone. Our family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support. This is a very tough time in our lives. He will be greatly missed.
