Claflin Fire Department has received state approval for a Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) Grant this year, according to Kansas Forest Service Fire Management Coordinator Ross Hauck.
Claflin will receive $1,803 and will then contribute $1,803 for a total of $3,606.
According to Fire Chief Doug Hubbard, Claflin Fire Department will purchase firefighting foam and foam equipment along with portable radios used to improve fire ground operations with foam used in wildland fire suppression.
