Investigators believe a faulty furnace is to blame for a minor apartment fire in south Wichita this morning.
Shortly after 7 a.m., Wichita firefighters were called to the Falcon Pointe Apartments in the 4200 block of South Hydraulic. When crews arrived, they found smoke on the third floor.
The small fire was quickly extinguished, and fire crews determined there was a mechanical issue with the heating unit in the attic.
No one was hurt and damage is minimal. Firefighters say these types of calls happen this time of year as more and more residents turn on their heating units for the first time in several months.
