Fire at 103rd and Webster under investigation

A trash truck driver called in a fire this morning at a home in western Kansas City, Kan.

The fire at a single-family home at 2:20 a.m. Oct. 2 at 10306 Webster is under investigation, according to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.

According to the Fire Department, the home and contents sustained $50,000 in damage to property and contents.

Crews on the scene within 4 minutes reported a fire showing from the rear of a one-story wood-framed structure, the spokesman said.

The fire started on the exterior of the building and traveled to the attic area through the eaves, he said.

Crews made an aggressive interior attack on the fire and prevented fire from spreading through the rest of the structure, the spokesman said.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. The fire investigator responded and the fire is under investigation.

The pre-fire value of the home was $180,000. There were no injuries.
