Authorities were able to contain a fire threatening businesses in downtown Caldwell on Thursday to a bar and grill, the town’s fire chief, Pat York, said.
York said that one firefighter was being evaluated for heat exhaustion but that no injuries were reported in the afternoon fire at Richard’s Last Chance Bar and Grill, 30 S. Main in Caldwell. Crews were able to bring the fire under control shortly before 5 p.m. and would be investigating its cause Thursday evening, York said.
An estimate of damage was also pending. York said the building appears to have sustained “fairly extensive damage.”
