A fire destroyed a home in Rosalia on Monday night, taking with it most of its valuables and possibly two family pets that are still missing.
More than 30 firefighters from Rosalia, El Dorado and the surrounding area tried to control the fire, which was on the 5200 block of northeast 53rd St.. The homeowner attempted to suppress the fire with a garden hose before they arrived, but it eventually reached the roof.
The family is being assisted by the Red Cross, and there were no reported injuries. Some hot coals were reportedly placed around a plastic trashcan that sat next to an exterior wall. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
