A fire is battled Sunday at a vacant house at 500 E. Carpenter St. Hutchinson firefighters responded to the fire shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, and fire was coming out of the home’s second-story windows when they arrived. The home, which was at a dead end on East Carpenter, was vacant, and no one was injured, confirmed Jason Holland, Hutchinson fire training chief. Holland said the property owner was already in the process of tearing down the dilapidated home, and now it will be torn down this morning, since it’s a hazard. The roof started to cave in as crews battled the blaze Sunday evening.
