Kansas Woman Burned In Possible Meth Lab Fire

KAKE – October 7, 2013

A woman suffered serious burns in a fire possibly caused by a meth lab in Butler County.

The fire broke out shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday at a mobile home lot in the 1100 block of southeast Bluesteam. That’s just east of El Dorado.

Crews found a detached shed on fire, and a 42-year-old woman with extensive burns. She was taken to a Wichita hospital for treatment.

After it was extinguished, firefighters noticed a strong chemical smell and called for additional assistance.

Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet says there was likely a meth lab in the shed. Investigators remain on the scene.
