A lightning strike is being blamed for a stubble fire Monday afternoon near the home of Gene and Nancy Hennes, just south of Kansas 9 Hwy, just outside the city limits of Beloit. Fire crews quickly doused the flames and farm machinery was used to turn the stubble under to prevent the possible spread of the fire. No damage estimate was available.
