An employee with Kizzar Well Services was injured Tuesday, working on a platform 30 feet high. The employee appeared to be pinned facedown between the oil well block and the platform after the block apparently hit the crown of the pump and came down on the employee’s back.

Several agencies were on the scene including Hutchinson Hospital’s helicopter rescue team and Great Bend Fire Department.

One of the firemen, Robison, said, ”Rice County EMS requested our assistance and we responded with our Technical Rescue Vehicle. We would like to thank Midwest Energy for their assistance.” Great Bend Fire Department requested assistance from Mid West Energies and the company sent a large bucket truck to the scene. Greg Cline of Rice County EMS said, “The patient’s status is still unknown to us at this time.”

Doug Kizzar the owner of Kizzar Well Services, said, “The block hit the crown and swung down and hit the employee in the back.” When asked about the employee’s status Kizzar said, “He was able to talk to me and move.” The helicopter team flew the employee to a trauma center in Wichita.

Thursday Kizzar said the employee was allowed to return home on Wednesday indicating that the employee had only suffered a broken finger and some bruises.
