Two members of the Neodesha Fire Department were injured while assisting with a house fire in Altoona shortly after midnight on Wednesday, August 28. Fire Chief Duane Banzet and Fireman Landon Woodard were struck by boards that fell from the top of the structure.
Both were taken by ambulance to Wilson Medical Center. Woodard was treated and released and Banzet was admitted for observation but was released later that day.
City Administrator Allen Dinkel said the Neodesha Fire Department responded to the Altoona fire as they had been requested to provide assistance per a mutual aid arrangement.
