KAKE – October 10, 2013
Fire caused extensive damage to a home Thursday near Central and Maize, in West Wichita.
The house at 11006 West Taylor Circle caught fire around 3:40 a.m. Damage quickly spread to the attic and basement areas, and crews needed about 30 minutes to bring the flames under control.
Neighbors told KAKE News the home had been vacant for several months, but people had been there in recent days – perhaps construction workers.
Firefighters estimate the damage to the home at $70,000. The cause of the fire is uncertain, but early speculation centers on the electrical system.
