Wichita fire crews on Monday responded to a garage fire.

It broke out in the 11600 block of West Cindy just before 1 p.m.

When fire crews arrived, heavy smoke and flames were pouring from the garage of the home.

Crews were able to get the fire under control fairly quickly.

A 19-year-old man was taken to the hospital with inhalation burns.

“One of the occupants here was seen going in and out of the house, trying to get some stuff out. He was taken in serious condition with smoke inhalation,” said Battalion Chief Rich Harris, Wichita Fire Department.
Officials say damage is estimated at $120,000.
Investigators aren’t for sure how the fire started.
