Special Weather Statement issued November 10 at 5:39PM CST by NWS Topeka
…Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of northern Jefferson
and southeastern Jackson Counties through 615 PM CST…
At 538 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 4 miles northeast of Denison to Hoyt. Movement
was northeast at 25 mph.
HAZARD…Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include…
Valley Falls, Oskaloosa, Hoyt, Ozawkie, Nortonville, Winchester,
Mayetta and Denison.
MAX HAIL SIZE…0.25 IN
MAX WIND GUST…40 MPH
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM CST for
northeastern Kansas.
