...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF THE
MID ATLANTIC THIS EVENING...

...SUMMARY...
A few strong or severe thunderstorm gusts, and perhaps a brief/weak
tornado remain possible this evening over parts of the Mid-Atlantic
region, and over far eastern North Carolina.

...Discussion...
A strong midlevel speed max will continue to nose northeastward
toward the Mid Atlantic tonight, with a dry slot reducing moisture
depth over time. As a result, isolated activity across eastern NC is
expected to wane during the early evening as winds off the surface
veer ahead of the front, with a gradual decrease in storm intensity
farther north along the front as the existing line of storms cross
the marginal instability plume. In the near term, a relatively
better zone of supercell potential exists from northern VA into MD
with strong low-level shear remaining. Elsewhere, showers and storms
will remain possible across central FL, with a few strong gusts
possible. For more information see mesoscale discussion 382.
