Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0647 PM CST Wed Jan 18 2023 Valid 190100Z - 191200Z ...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE LOWER AND MID MISSISSIPPI VALLEY REGION... ...SUMMARY... Severe threat is expected to gradually wane this evening; however, an isolated severe wind gust or a brief tornado remain possible. ...MS Valley... Strong upper low continues its northeastward track across the central Plains early this evening. Primary focus ahead of this system will be across the mid and upper MS Valley/lower OH Valley where height falls will be notable, in the 120-180m range, over the next 12hr. While the southern extent of this forcing will spread across the mid-south, current pre frontal band of convection is not particularly robust and this activity is shifting into a region of weaker instability where mid-level lapse rates are expected to weaken the rest of the period. Isolated damaging winds, and perhaps a brief tornado, are the primary risks from central LA into the western TN Valley this evening. ..Darrow.. 01/19/2023
