A broad cyclonic flow pattern will be in place across much of the central and eastern U.S. on Saturday. At the surface, a moist airmass will be in place throughout much of the eastern third of the nation. As instability develops across this moist airmass during the day, scattered thunderstorms will likely form from the Great Lakes southward into the Ohio Valley and southern Appalachians. Although deep-layer shear is forecast to remain below 30 knots in most areas, marginally severe wind gusts will be possible as low-level lapse rates steepen during the afternoon. Hail could also occur with the stronger multicell storms. ..Broyles.. 07/13/2023
