Valid 160229Z - 160430Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 551 continues. SUMMARY...Severe threat will spread southeast across ww551 as the evening continues. DISCUSSION...Surface front continues to sag south across the southern Plains as a very weak apparent mid-level disturbance is ejecting across the eastern TX Panhandle into western OK. This feature appears to be partly responsible for a gradual increase in convection along the surface front; although some increase in 850mb flow across north TX into southern OK is expected to contribute to longevity of this activity as it propagates southeast. 00z sounding from OKC exhibited modest instability with steep lapse rates, but overall moisture is a bit scant with only 1 inch PW. Some increase in moisture is expected into southern OK over the next few hours which could aid upscale convective growth.
