MD 1898 CONCERNING SEVERE POTENTIAL…WATCH UNLIKELY FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL LOUISIANA.

Mesoscale Discussion 1898
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0351 AM CDT Tue Oct 25 2022
Areas affected...Portions of southern and central Louisiana.
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely
Valid 250851Z - 251015Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent
SUMMARY...An isolated damaging wind gust or brief tornado threat is
expected to persist thorough the early morning.
DISCUSSION...A strong line of storms persists across southern
Louisiana this morning. A very moist airmass is in place ahead of
these storms with dewpoints in the low 70s. The low-level wind
profile is supportive of low-level rotation and some weak
circulations have been observed along the squall line across
southwest Louisiana. However, the remnant tropical airmass features
very warm mid-level temperatures which is limiting overall updraft
accelerations and instability. Therefore, isolated damaging wind
gusts or a brief tornado are possible this morning, but
aforementioned thermodynamic limitations should temper the overall
severe weather threat.
