The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 557
continues.
SUMMARY...Isolated severe threat continues across northwest Texas
into southern Oklahoma.
DISCUSSION...A few semi-discrete supercells are ongoing across
northwest Texas. This storm mode is likely to continue over the next
couple of hours as deep layer shear observed on the KFDR VAD profile
around 40-45 knots supports continued organized storm mode. Straight
mid level hodographs with veering in the low levels are supporting
splitting cells and favoring right movers, which has been observed
on radar. Hail up to 1.5 inches has been observed with storms in
northwest Cottle County. As the cold front moves southeast, mode
will transition to more clustered cells growing upscale with
damaging wind. Shear profiles will remain favorable for embedded
stronger cells and hail.
