Areas affected...Georgia...Florida Panhandle

Concerning...Tornado Watch 12...

Valid 041307Z - 041500Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 12 continues.

SUMMARY...A severe threat will continue this morning from eastern
Georgia southwestward into the Florida Panhandle. Wind damage and a
tornado threat will exist along the leading edge of a convective
line. New weather watch issuance may be needed to the east of WW 12.

DISCUSSION...The latest mosaic radar imagery in the eastern Gulf
Coast region shows a multi-segmented line of organized convection
from central Georgia extending southwestward into the western
Florida Panhandle. The storms are located along an axis of weak to
moderate instability, where the RAP has MLCAPE in the 1000 to 2000
J/kg range. In addition, the WSR-88D VWP at Robins Air Force Base
has a clockwise-turning hodograph with 0-6 km shear near 50 knots,
and 0-3 km storm-relative helicity around 475 m2/s2. This
environment will continue to support supercells associated with wind
damage and an isolated tornado threat. Wind damage will also be
possible along the leading edge of short bowing line segments. The
threat should remain somewhat isolated through mid morning but
additional weather watch issuance could still be needed.
