The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 143, 144
continues.
SUMMARY...Isolated damaging gusts remain possible late this evening,
but the threat should continue to diminish with time.
DISCUSSION...A long-lived QLCS is gradually weakening late this
evening across southeast IL into western KY, as it encounters
weakening instability and increasing MLCINH. However, steep midlevel
lapse rates are still helping to maintain convection near and just
behind the gust front, and isolated damaging gusts will remain
possible until convection more definitively subsides later tonight.
Some small hail may also occur with the stronger embedded updrafts,
though the severe hail threat should continue to decrease with time.
With the ongoing weakening trend expected to continue, additional
downstream watch issuance is not anticipated.
