Areas affected...east central Florida coastal areas

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 175...

Valid 272352Z - 280145Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 175
continues.

SUMMARY...The risk for severe weather may begin to diminish
near/north of Melbourne, but might still increase a bit south of
Melbourne into the Vero Beach vicinity through 9-10 PM EDT. It does
not appear that a new severe weather watch will be needed, however.

DISCUSSION...Attempts at sustained, intensifying thunderstorm
development persist where boundary-layer instability and low-level
convergence remain maximized over the interior peninsula, north of
Lake Okeechobee toward the Melbourne vicinity. At the same time, a
few lingering supercells with occasionally intensifying low-level
mesocyclones have recently been focused near and north of the Cape
Canaveral vicinity, where low-level shear is maximized, aided by
south-southeasterly boundary-layer flow along coastal areas.
Similar intensification of the storms initiating to the
north-northeast of Lake Okeechobee may still be possible along
coastal areas near/north of Vero Beach through 01-02Z. Otherwise,
coastal convection to north seems likely to progress offshore with
forcing accompanying a weak mid-level perturbation.
